Dear BKW families,
I hope you are all safe and well. Please also accept my sincere appreciation for the shift everyone has made during this unique and challenging time. As a school community, we have worked together, endured uncertainty, and continue to be ready for the unexpected. I have been most impressed by the sheer determination and unity I have seen over the past nine weeks. It has not been without glitches, but the work has been remarkable.
Districts across New York state and the region are actively meeting in small groups to discuss plans and logistics for the anticipated return to school in September. To that end, we need to hear from you to inform our decision making in the process. To do so, we have developed a survey that will take about 15 minutes to complete. The topics of the questions include internet access, remote learning, food service, and transportation. The survey will be administered to elementary parents through your child’s classroom platform. For secondary parents, we will post a link to the survey on our website below.
Governor Cuomo has indicated he will decide about the September return to school in late July. Districts will be submitting plans for service delivery in different circumstances- i.e. online learning, face to face learning, and a blend of online and face to face. To be sure, school will be different if we return in September. Therefore, the data will help us create the best learning experience possible for the most students, while also understanding family needs.
The survey will be administered over a two-week period through Friday, June 12. We will collect the data and share it with the community as we develop our plans.
Thanks in advance for your assistance and support.
Dr. Timothy Mundell
