Recently, BKW was offered a wonderful student exchange opportunity. The Daishan School in Shanghai, China, is interested in sending a group of eight students to BKW as a way of immersing them in the typical routine of American public schools. While here, the group would also visit various local cultural attractions and spend time with local families. The group is scheduled to visit Feb. 3-10.
In preparation, we must find host families who would be willing to have a Daishan School student stay with them for that week. Families with secondary school age children would be ideal. The group traveling to BKW includes eight 10th & 11th graders and two teachers. We are looking for eight families to accommodate one student each. Host families must commit to providing a place for the student to sleep, breakfast and dinner, and must make sure the student goes to school each day with your son or daughter.
We would like to make this exchange work out, as it allows both the Chinese students and BKW students an opportunity to learn about culture other than their own. Please complete the Google Form (https://goo.gl/forms/x1PM9Jd8kfhddR9Y2) by December 14 indicating whether you are interested in hosting a student or not.
A meeting is scheduled for host families on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. At that time information will be provided regarding the group’s itinerary for the week and all protocols related to any medical issues. If you have questions regarding this program, please contact program coordinator Karol Harlow at (518) 872-2039. Your consideration of this opportunity would be greatly appreciated.
We look forward to hearing from you.
