On Wednesday, May 29, the BKW Board of Education appointed Bonnie Kane as the Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2024. Since 2016, Mrs. Kane has been a vital member of the district’s teaching staff and building principal for the Secondary School. She brings with her nearly sixteen years of administrative and instructional experience to her new position.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have Mrs. Kane leading our district in the coming years,” said Board of Education President Kimberly Lovell. “We look forward to continuing the work being pursued on our school campus and its positive effect on our students’ educational pathways. Whether our students are starting their school years at the elementary level, engaging in Career and Technical education programs, seeking opportunities at two or four-year colleges, or building their skill sets to become entrepreneurs – we’re challenging our students for tomorrow. As a district, we are confident in Mrs. Kane’s ability to lead that progress in our district moving forward.”
In response to her appointment, Kane noted, “It is an absolute honor to continue to serve our students, families, and community members in a greater capacity.” I look forward to our continued partnership as we create opportunities for students and provide them with the educational foundation they need to be successful in their individual futures.”
Mrs. Kane will take over from Dr. Mundell, who has been Superintendent of Schools for nearly ten years. Dr. Mundell will be retiring after the 2023-24 school year.

He will begin his new role as principal on July 1.
“Mr. Tidd brings a wealth of education and relationship-building qualities to his role as building principal,” said Board of Education President Kimberly Lovell. “We are confident in his abilities to continue the positive work being done in our Secondary School while keeping our students engaged and connected to their classroom goals.”
