Recently, BKW seventh grade students participated in a field trip to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. Located in Delmar, NY, this unique and important resource provides today’s students with a perspective on regional wildlife and history. The eco-friendly location allows students to access over ten miles of hiking trails with the ability to learn more about local wetlands, forests, ponds and more.
As part of this hands-on experience, BKW students even participated in an outdoor investigation. Students were able to become scientists for a day and studied the life cycle of a pond to determine its health. Pretty cool, right? Students even mixed in some of their geography and observation skill sets to wrap up this fun-filled day!

This unique and special trip was made possible through the NYS Connect Kids to Parks grant.
