BKW Superintendent Dr. Timothy Mundell and incoming Secondary School Principal Bonnie Kane joined Assemblyman Chris Tague, and other state and local leadership at Ridgedale Farm in Sharon Springs on May 2 to promote legislation that would allow whole and 2% milk to be served in public schools.
As one of the keynote speakers, Dr. Mundell underscored the importance of putting students at the center of all decision making and advocacy. He explained that the decision to bring whole and 2% milk back into schools is most beneficial to students as it provides more than 13 vitamins and minerals. Additionally, milk provides protein that is beneficial in helping students build and maintain strong muscles.
Dr. Mundell also highlighted the opportunity for local community economic development with producers, as many of those farms attending the press conference have begun processing their own dairy products.
