Dear BKW Community,
As we come to the close of the 2017-18 school year, the success of our students stands out for all to see. Throughout this year, there have been athletic accomplishments, academic successes, and many wonderful stories of awards and thoughtful efforts beyond classes, teams, or programs. As a district, we have also had a productive year. There have been successful financial audits, new opportunities for students, and a voter approved capital project that will bring our facilities into the 21st century for safety and instructional design. It is a great time to be in BKW. The Bulldogs are on the move. We are excited to celebrate graduation with the class of 2018 on June 23.
As we move through the summer months, our staff will be planning and preparing for the 2018-19 school year. A required part of this work is updating the Student Code of Conduct. To do this, we are inviting parents/community members to participate in the process. Administrators will work with their respective Shared Decision Making teams to review the document and update it where they see need. The Code of Conduct establishes the rules and processes designed to manage student behavior. If you would like to be a part of the Shared Decision Making team in one building, or the other, please contact the office of that building by July 1. We anticipate scheduling the sessions to take place the week of July 9-13 and the week of July 23-27.
We also want to plan for informational meetings to take place in early September. The meetings would be an opportunity for us to share information regarding building level procedures on things like attendance, bullying, support services, and student assessment. Again, we would like to have parent/community member involvement in the planning, so we have insight as to issues that may be on the minds of people in our community. Please contact the office of the building where you would like to serve to indicate your interest, by July 1. We will try to schedule these meetings during the same weeks as above, July 9-13 and July 23-27.
I want to thank the entire community for your support and participation in the work of caring for, and educating, our students. We are grateful to you, and excited to continue this work.
Enjoy the coming summer days!
Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy Mundell
Superintendent of Schools
