On Wednesday, Dec. 4, BKW junior Dayne Coates reached the 1,000-career point mark for the Bulldogs against the Johnstown Central School District. He scored 16 points in the first quarter to achieve this important milestone.
“It’s been a relief for me to get to 1,000 points and it’s always been something that I’ve discussed with Coach Wright. He has coached me in basketball since the third grade and I’m incredibly proud to have reached that goal,” shared Coates. “It was a special moment, and my family was there, and it happened during the first quarter of the first game of the season. It was great.”
What’s the next step for Mr. Coates and his fellow Bulldogs? He’s looking towards securing a Section 2 Class C title with his teammates for the district and continuing to pursue the school record for the most points.
“Dayne is incredibly gifted both physically and mentally, and he’s able to take those gifts and apply those to his work ethic,” said BKW Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach Mr. Wright. “It’s not by chance, and he’s built for success. He can score in multiple ways and has improved his overall game over the years.”
