The Berne-Knox-Westerlo CSD announced that its music department has been awarded the Peter R. Marsh Foundation grant. The grant, totaling $1,250, will assist the Secondary School music program in obtaining a new alto saxophone and additional funds to support the transportation of students to community-based concerts for area senior citizens.

The purpose of the Middle School Music Grant is to broaden students’ ability to advance musically, scholastically, and socially in their respective art programs. In addition, the grant also serves as an opportunity to acquire in-school music classroom equipment and supplies. Additional information on the Peter R. Marsh Foundation and the grant can be found here.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have been selected for this grant to not only assist our music program but also share our students’ musical talents with our senior community,” shared BKW Middle School Music Teacher Jared Slingerland. “We are thankful to the Peter R. Marsh Foundation for their support and recognition.”
