On Monday, June 24, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Board of Education held a board meeting to announce the district programs and services to be affected by the contingent budget for the 2024-25 school year.
The following services and programs will be affected for the 2024-25 school year:
- Elimination of 2 full-time equivalent (FTE) elementary teaching positions
- Elimination of 3 FTE TA/Aides
- Elimination of 1 FTE Clerical position
- Elimination of School Resource Officer
- Elimination of Ready-Set-Go program
- Reduction of chaperoning/detention staffing
- Reduction of graduation expenses
- Elimination of Bulldog Club
- Elimination of after-school transportation (late bus runs)
- Reduction of Information Technology (IT) support
- Elimination of field trip transportation
- Reduction of benefits costs for excessed positions
- Elimination of deputy treasurer stipend and clerical extra pay
- Elimination of 2024 summer assistance programs
- Reduction of summer counseling support
- Elimination of contracted services
- Reduction in various supply lines
- Elimination of student summer employment
- Reduction of transportation for detention and disciplinary incidents
- Elimination of new classroom and athletics equipment
- Elimination of non-union salary increases
- Suspension of maintenance projects for 2024-25 school year
