What to Expect: Contingent Budget for 2024-25 School Year

On Monday, June 24, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Board of Education held a board meeting to announce the district programs and services to be affected by the contingent budget for the 2024-25 school year.

The following services and programs will be affected for the 2024-25 school year:

  • Elimination of 2 full-time equivalent (FTE) elementary teaching positions 
  • Elimination of 3 FTE TA/Aides
  • Elimination of 1 FTE Clerical position
  • Elimination of School Resource Officer 
  • Elimination of Ready-Set-Go program
  • Reduction of chaperoning/detention staffing
  • Reduction of graduation expenses
  • Elimination of Bulldog Club 
  • Elimination of after-school transportation (late bus runs) 
  • Reduction of Information Technology (IT) support 
  • Elimination of field trip transportation 
  • Reduction of benefits costs for excessed positions
  • Elimination of deputy treasurer stipend and clerical extra pay
  • Elimination of 2024 summer assistance programs 
  • Reduction of summer counseling support
  • Elimination of contracted services
  • Reduction in various supply lines
  • Elimination of student summer employment 
  • Reduction of transportation for detention and disciplinary incidents 
  • Elimination of new classroom and athletics equipment 
  • Elimination of non-union salary increases
  • Suspension of maintenance projects for 2024-25 school year
