BKW Friends and Family:
As we continue to prepare our campus buildings and classrooms for the beginning of the 2022-23 school year, we wanted to share some important items prior to the start of the new school year. First of all, we hope that everyone enjoyed their summer break and we are ready to hit the ground running to reach your expectations for today’s students.
Over the past two years, we have shifted our normal day-to-day operations and procedures to adjust to the difficulties presented by COVID-19. For this school year, we are moving forward and re-opening our district doors back to a pre-pandemic level. As we enter this new chapter for BKW, I would like to take a moment to recognize our students, teachers, staff, parents and caregivers, administrators and everyone who persevered during the past two years and for those staff members who dedicated their effort in keeping our buildings, students and staff safe during the pandemic.
As always, we will keep our school community informed of recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the New York State Education Department (NYSED) related to COVID-19. Our district is ready to open our campus to engage our students and provide them with quality-based instruction in a healthy and safe environment.
As a reminder, we encourage our school community to continue to stay connected with our district for the upcoming school year on Wednesday, September 7. If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment to sign-up for ParentSquare. Please visit https://www.parentsquare.com/signin and sign up using the contact information on file with the school district. This platform will allow you to stay up-to-date and connected with your student(s) classrooms and school buildings.
For the 2022-23 school year, the district will be introducing ThroughtExchange for our school community. We will be sharing survey’s from time to time with our district families as a way to gather feedback on various topics ranging from curriculum to specific building programs, while opening up discussions to gain input on issues important to you. We hope you find it helpful and we look forward to your participation and suggestions.
We encourage our families to stay up-to-date on campus news and happenings by visiting our website at www.bkwschools.com. We also hope you continue to follow the conversation of what’s happening in our classrooms by following us on Facebook. We are looking forward to sharing the positive stories, pathways and successes of today’s students.
We are excited to welcome back our students, faculty and staff for a fun, healthy and safe school year!
Respectfully,
Dr. Timothy Mundell
Superintendent of Schools
