Earlier this fall, Mechanicville hosted a round-robin volleyball tournament where BKW's 'Lady Dawgs' played three fearsome matches against Spa Catholic to place in the semi-finals. The win came down to the last set where BKW came in just shy of the points to win: 25-12, 22-25, 15-10.
The Sept. 29. tournament hosted teams from Ft. Edward, Cambridge, Hadley-Luzerne, Spa Catholic, Granville, Duanesburg and BKW.
Senior Gabriella Audino was honored with a medal as BKW's All-Star player. Audino leads with 536 assists and an impressive 95% serving rate.
Other talented seniors on BKW's team include:
Kaitlind Horlacher, who leads the squad in reception and beat the school record with 354 digs.
Danielle Hubbard, who has paced the offense with 295 kills and also tops the squad with 80 blocks.
Erin McIntyre, who has picked up 188 digs and 25 assists.
"In my opinion, both the varsity and JV are among the most spirited and hard-working teams we have seen this year," said Coach Lemire.
The Varsity Volleyball Team would like to thank everyone who supported their efforts in fundraising for Breast Cancer. The Lady Dawgs were honored to represent BKW and donate over $1,000 towards Breast Cancer Awareness at Galway's Volleyball Tournament on Oct. 13. With 20 participating teams raising money, the event raised more than $15,000 this year which will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
