BKW second grade class visits Berne Library in search of love of reading and community
In mid-December, Miss Pahl’s second grade class took a walking field trip to the newly located Berne Public Library, across the street from the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Elementary School! Kathy Stempel, the librarian, gave the class a tour of the library and read a story to the students. Each student looked through books, checked out a book of his or her choice to take home, along with an application for a library card.
Miss Pahl would like to thank Kathy Stempel for graciously opening her doors early for the class and for her hospitality.
“This trip helped to inspire a love of reading in students,” said Pahl. “It also helped raise awareness of the library in our backyard that holds valuable resources for our students in the heart of our community.”
