From the principal: Planning for 2017-18 school year

Dear Berne-Knox-Westerlo Parents and Guardians,

We have recently begun the process of planning for the 2017-18 school year.

Part of the process includes the development of placement lists. Teachers and administrators spend a tremendous amount of time determining class rosters while taking into consideration such factors as: learning style, teaching style, social/emotional needs, academic needs, and learning rate.

Based on educational research, our goal as educators is to create highly engaging, heterogeneous classes. In doing so, we are able to maximize each student’s potential for academic success.

If you would like to share your thoughts regarding your child’s learning style, or the specific characteristics you are looking for in a classroom environment, please submit that in writing to Mrs. Diane Dibble in the Main Office by Friday, May 19.

Please understand that we do our very best to meet the needs of each child and put a great deal of effort into selecting the appropriate learning environment for each of them. Therefore, I will not be accepting parental requests or non-requests for specific teachers.

Classroom teacher assignments and class lists will be mailed home on August 4. Grade-level supply lists will go home with report cards in June, thus allowing parents an opportunity to shop early!

Sincerely,

Annette Landry
Elementary School Principal
